About Bjorn Olson:
Born in Martin County and raised in Faribault County, Bjorn has family roots within District 22A extending over 155 years. He and his wife, Hannah, have three young children, Sophie, Soren, and Svea. They lived in Elmore, MN, for a number of years while Bjorn served two terms as the city’s Mayor. They currently reside in Fairmont.
Bjorn grew up south of Blue Earth and attended the Blue Earth Area Schools. After graduating from Blue Earth Area High School, Bjorn attended Bethel University in St. Paul, where he earned two bachelor’s degrees in History and Social Studies Education. He also has a master’s degree in American Military History.
Bjorn is a Major in the United States Army Reserve. For several years, he served as Commander of the 150 soldiers that made up the 353rd Transportation Company based out of Buffalo, MN. He is currently a Support Operations Officer at Fort Snelling in St. Paul.

Bjorn is a conservative educator. He taught middle school history at Blue Earth Area Schools for 8 years. Bjorn was also the school district’s Knowledge Bowl Coach and coached middle and high schoolers in cross-country.
Bjorn independently farms 200 acres of land in the area. Family and faith are focal points in Bjorn’s life, driving the passion with which he serves his communities.
Bjorn was first elected to the Minnesota House of Representatives in 2020, running after 13-term Republican incumbent Bob Gunther announced he would not seek reelection. Gunther endorsed Olson over his primary challenger. Bjorn won the primary, was elected in fall of 2020, and began his first term in January 2021.
In 2022, Bjorn was the endorsed Republican candidate for the MN House District 22A’s race, having received a unanimous endorsement in March of that year. He was reelected to a second term in the Minnesota House of Representatives in the fall of 2022.
Bjorn is currently serving his second term as MN House District 22A’s State Representative. He has been an Assistant Minority Leader since his swearing-in in 2021. He serves on the Transportation Finance & Policy Committee, Taxes Committee, and Veterans and Military Affairs Finance and Policy Committee, but has also served on the Local Government and Rules committees previously. As a legislator, he has chief authored bills that resulted in over $35 million in funding for the district.
His variety of experiences in leadership, education, agriculture, government, and business provide valuable insight in his pursuit to provide moral, faith and family-based representation of his communities’ interests at the capitol.
